freeclassThis FREE introductory non-shooting course is 2 hours long and includes classroom time learning firearm safety, handling, proper grip, storage and maintenance. Students will learn the rules for safe gun handling and storage; firearm parts and operation; ammunition & components; how to load and unload certain action types; shooting fundamentals; primary causes of firearms accidents; and cleaning the firearm. This non-shooting course teaches students the basic knowledge, skills, and explains the mindset necessary for the safe handling and storage of firearms and ammunition.

This class is open to the general public. Bass Pro Shops & Defensive Strategies, LLC wants everyone to know basic firearm safety.... so come join us on the the first Wednesday of every month from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM for this class. Registration is require.

Please Note: This is a Non-Shooting Course conducted in the classroom only.

Please Note: If you need a Certificate as proof of attendance for your gun club, the courts or for whatever reason, we are happy to do so for a fee of $25.

NRA Basic Pistol Course

NRA Basic Pistol Course - LTC-002

handgunlThe NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting is intended for all individuals regardless of previous shooting experience or NRA-affiliation. This course is at least 8-hours long and includes classroom and range time learning to shoot revolvers and semi-automatic pistols.

Students learn NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; pistol parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting from the bench rest position, and two handed standing positions; cleaning the pistol; and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive the NRA Guide to the Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules, and take a Basics of Pistol Shooting Student Examination, and course completion certificate.

NRA Basic Pistol Instructor - with BIT

Candidates must possess and demonstrate a solid background in firearm safety and shooting skills acquired through previous firearm training and/or previous shooting experience. Instructor candidates must be intimately familiar with each action type in the discipline they wish to be certified

SAFTEA Concealed Carry Course (CCW) (2 Days)

ccwsThe goal of the Second Amendment Foundation Training Division’s Concealed Carry Course is to provide the student with a solid foundation in personal protection and carrying a concealed handgun, knowledge of various types of handguns, ammunition and how it functions, fundamentals of shooting in conventinal and non-conventinal shooting positions, legal aspects of carrying and use of force fundamentals. 

The SAFTD CCW course consist of 11 lessons and is geared to the novice to intermidate students:

  • Lesson 1 Intro of course, history of SAFTD, staff, students
  • Lesson 2 Introduction to Ammunition.
  • Lesson 3 Handguns, Malfunctions and Stoppages.
  • Lesson 4 Situational Alertness and Mind Set
  • Lesson 5 Physiological Reactions and Mental Preparedness
  • Lesson 6 Range Safety and Operations
  • Lesson 7 Defensive Shooting.
  • Lesson 8 Handgun cleaning.
  • Lesson 9 Introduction to holsters, belts, off body carry and EDC gear selection.
  • Lesson 10 Common Shooting Stances and Presentation from the Holster.
  • Lesson 11 Range operations for day 2. (150 to 200 rounds)

NOW INCLUDES 1 hour of New Hampshire & Federal Law and Use of Force.

REQUIRED GEAR:

  • IWB/OWB Strong side holster (no shoulder rigs, pocket holsters, or cross draw holsters allowed)
  • 300 Rounds of Factory ammunition (No reloads or remanufactured ammo allowed)
  • .38 special revolver or larger with 3 autoloaders, OR .380 semiatuto pistol or larger with a minimum of 3 magazines
  • Mag Carrier with 2 mag capacity.
  • Baseball type cap
  • Eye & hearing protection. Amplified muffs highly suggested.
  • Hydration System or bottled water
  • Knee pads highly suggested
  • Cover garment
  • Backup gun is always highly suggested
  • A positive attitude

Ladies Only Pistol Class

women onlySorry guys, but this class is all about the Ladies. This course is 8 hours long and includes classroom and range time learning to shoot handguns as well as other women only specific topics. The ladies will learn rules for safe gun handling; pistol parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; two handed standing position; cleaning the pistol; and continued opportunities for skill development. The Ladies will receive a course completion certificate after taking a basic Student Examination.

NOW INCLUDES 1 hour of New Hampshire & Federal Law and Use of Force.

In this class you will start by shooting a .22LR caliber revolver and then progress to a sub-compact 9mm, a full size .40 caliber and a compact .45 caliber semi-automatic. By shooting various sizes and calibers it should give you a good idea of what size frame and caliber is right for you.

Use of our firearms and ammo are included in the class price.
Safe, comfortable and air conditioned classroom.
Master Instructor always present.

The goal of the Second Amendment Foundation Training Division's “F.A.S.T Handgun” course is to provide the student with a solid foundation in basic knowledge of handgun "Fundamentals and Safety Training", a basic understanding of ammunition and how it functions as well as the shooting fundamentals.

NOW INCLUDES 1 hour of New Hampshire & Federal Law and Use of Force.

A person new to the use of a firearm for personal defense typically has a broad range of questions and is faced with learning a number of skills that are critical in the safe use of a firearm – in this case a handgun. F.A.S.T Handgun is specifically designed to provide a person new to handguns the opportunity to gain that knowledge and learn the basics of operation, cleaning and maintenance, safety and much more in a convenient 4 to 8 hour course. “F.A.S.T Handgun” is also meant as an introductory course for students new to handguns prior to taking SAFTD Defensive Handgun 1 or NRA Defensive Pistol.

NRA Basic Range Safety Officer Course

rso colorsmThis course is nine hours long and is conducted in a classroom and may include a Range facility. Range Safety Officer candidates will learn roles and responsibilities of an RSO; Range Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs); range inspection; range rules; range briefings; emergency procedures; and firearm stoppages and malfunctions. Each Range Safety Officer Candidate will receive an RSO Student Study Guide, a Basic Firearm Training Program brochure, an NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, an Instructor Application/Course Evaluation form.

PLEASE NOTE: Certs are issued by the NRA training department, therefore there is also additional certification and processing fees payable to the NRA.  ($30.00 for NRA members & $50.00 for non-members) for initial certification as a NRA RSO. All first time instructors, coaches, and range safety officers pay a flat credentialing fee of $50 for a 2- year term. Additional ratings are added at a rate of $20 per rating. Renewals are $50 for a 2-year term regardless of how many ratings are being renewed.
NRA Member Benefit: credentialing fees are $30 for a 2- year term. Additional ratings are added at a rate of $10 per rating. Renewals are $30 for a 2-year term regardless of how many ratings are being renewed.

NRA Personal Protection Outside The Home Instructor

NRA-InstrutormdInstructor Candidates should expect to shoot approximately 100 rounds of ammunition. Instructor Candidates will learn how to teach the basic defensive shooting skills, strategies for home safety and responding to a violent confrontation, firearms and the law, how to choose a handgun for self-defense, and continued opportunities for skill development. Instructor Candidates will receive the NRA Personal Protection in the Home Instructor Manual, NRA Guide to the Basics of Personal Protection In The Home handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, the Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, and course completion certificate.
NRA Basic Personal Protection In The Home Instructor course is for law-abiding adult citizens, as defined by applicable federal, state, or local law, and experienced shooters (shooters able to show mastery of the basic skills of safe gun handling, shooting a group, zeroing the firearm, and cleaning the firearm) to maximize what can be learned from this course.

Equipment Required:

  • Ear and Eye protection (electronic muffs preferred)
  • Shoes – comfortable with sufficient support to permit a full range of motion. No sandals or flip-flops.
  • Semi-Automatic Pistol or Revolver with at least 100 rounds of factory ammunition. NO RELOADS
  • At least two functional magazines (semi-autos) or speed-loaders (revolvers)
  • Comfortable clothing, knee-pads (optional) and foot wear suitable for training outdoors.

PLEASE NOTE: Certs are issued by the NRA training department, therefore there is also additional certification and processing fees payable to the NRA.

**This is a 2-Day Course with BIT 1 day without** You must have completed and be Certified to teach NRA Basic Pistol course along with having successfully completed the Personal Protection in The Home Student Course and pass the prequalification test in order to take this Certification Course. You also must have had Basic Instructor Training within the last 2 years if the BIT is not included in this course.
