NRA Basic Rifle Instructor

Basis Instructor Training (BIT) is required when:
1. You are new Instructor Candidate.
2. You are a current instructor but have not had BIT within the last 2 years.
Student Level NRA Basic Rifle Course is a prerequisite to take this course.

 

This course includes classroom and range time learning to how to teach the sport of shooting rifles. Instructor Candidates learn how to teach the NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; rifle parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting from the bench rest, prone, sitting, standing and kneeling positions; cleaning, and continued opportunities for skill development. Instructor Candidates will receive the NRA Basic Rifle Instructor Manual & CD, Basics of Rifle Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, take a Basics of Rifle Shooting Instructor Examination, and course completion card.

rifle2In order to take this course you must pass the prequalification test which includes firearms safety, shooting evaluation etc. You also must have had Basic Instructor Training within the last 2 years if the BIT is not included in this course.

Someone that is bleeding excessively from a gunshot or similar wound has as little as 90 seconds to live. Don't just stand there—learn the techniques anyone can use to buy the precious time needed until EMS arrives. No prior first aid or medical training is needed! In this course you will learn some of the following:

  • Treatment of Massive Bleeding
  • Treatment of Airway Obstructions
  • Treatment of a Tension Pneumothorax
  • Needle Decompression of a Tension Pneumothorax
  • Tourniquet Staging & Use
  • Hemostatic Agents

  • Building your Blowout / IFAK

Attendees will receive live instruction, hands-on demonstrations, and Course Certificate. Register today before seats are sold out. This is NOT a general First-Aid & CPR class, however we highly suggest getting certified in general First-Aid & CPR also. This course specifically covers gunshot wounds and massive bleeding.

Ladies Only Pistol Class

women onlySorry guys, but this class is all about the Ladies. This course is 8 hours long and includes classroom and range time learning to shoot handguns as well as other women only specific topics. The ladies will learn rules for safe gun handling; pistol parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; two handed standing position; cleaning the pistol; and continued opportunities for skill development. The Ladies will receive a course completion certificate after taking a basic Student Examination.

NOW INCLUDES 1 hour of New Hampshire & Federal Law and Use of Force.

In this class you will start by shooting a .22LR caliber revolver and then progress to a sub-compact 9mm, a full size .40 caliber and a compact .45 caliber semi-automatic. By shooting various sizes and calibers it should give you a good idea of what size frame and caliber is right for you.

Use of our firearms and ammo are included in the class price.
Safe, comfortable and air conditioned classroom.
Master Instructor always present.

The goal of the Second Amendment Foundation Training Division's “F.A.S.T Handgun” course is to provide the student with a solid foundation in basic knowledge of handgun "Fundamentals and Safety Training", a basic understanding of ammunition and how it functions as well as the shooting fundamentals.

NOW INCLUDES 1 hour of New Hampshire & Federal Law and Use of Force.

A person new to the use of a firearm for personal defense typically has a broad range of questions and is faced with learning a number of skills that are critical in the safe use of a firearm – in this case a handgun. F.A.S.T Handgun is specifically designed to provide a person new to handguns the opportunity to gain that knowledge and learn the basics of operation, cleaning and maintenance, safety and much more in a convenient 4 to 8 hour course. “F.A.S.T Handgun” is also meant as an introductory course for students new to handguns prior to taking SAFTD Defensive Handgun 1 or NRA Defensive Pistol.

freeclassThis FREE introductory non-shooting course is 2 hours long and includes classroom time learning firearm safety, handling, proper grip, storage and maintenance. Students will learn the rules for safe gun handling and storage; firearm parts and operation; ammunition & components; how to load and unload certain action types; shooting fundamentals; primary causes of firearms accidents; and cleaning the firearm. This non-shooting course teaches students the basic knowledge, skills, and explains the mindset necessary for the safe handling and storage of firearms and ammunition.

This class is open to the general public. Bass Pro Shops & Defensive Strategies, LLC wants everyone to know basic firearm safety.... so come join us on the the first Wednesday of every month from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM for this class. Registration is require.

Please Note: This is a Non-Shooting Course conducted in the classroom only.

Please Note: If you need a Certificate as proof of attendance for your gun club, the courts or for whatever reason, we are happy to do so for a fee of $25.

NRA Basic Shotgun Shooting Course

Teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude for the safe and proper use of a shotgun in shooting a moving target.
This course is at least ten-hours long and includes classroom and range time learning how to shoot shotguns at moving targets. Students learn NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; shotgun parts and operation; shotgun shell components; shotgun shell malfunctions; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting at straight away and angled targets; cleaning; and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive the Basics of Shotgun Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, take a Basics of Shotgun Shooting Student Examination, and course completion certificate.

Prerequisites
The are no prerequisites for taking this course, and the material is accessible to appropriately supervised mature children. Be aware that the proper fitting of a shotgun to a shooter can be time-consuming.
Course Completion
For best results, the shotgun shooting skills exercise is repeated several times, with feedback from the instructor.
Students will receive feedback on the live-fire exercise and a course certificate upon successful completion of the lessons. There is a short written test on the lesson material at the end of the course.

NRA Basic Rifle Instructor

NRA Basic Shotgun Instructor

NRA-InstrutormdThe NRA Shotgun Instructor Training class is designed to develop NRA Certified Instructors who possess the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary to conduct the NRA Basic Shotgun Shooting Course. NRA Shotgun Instructor Training begins with the NRA Basic Instructor Training class, which must be completed first. Both classes together form the required course for NRA Shotgun Instructor certification. (You are not considered an NRA Certified Instructor until the NRA Training Department processes your application and issues your instructor credentials.) This is an 11 hour course designed to teach the fundamentals of shotgun shooting, both hunting and skeet/trap for shotgun.
Prerequisites
To enroll in the NRA Shotgun Instructor Training class you must:

  1. Complete our NRA Basic Instructor Training class
  2. Fill out the NRA Pre-Course Questionnaire, and deposit as listed on the class page.
  3. Achieve satisfactory scores in an NRA Pre-Course Qualification that we conduct for promising potential Instructor candidates.
  4. In your Pre-Course Qualification you must: achieve a score of 90 percent or higher in a written examination and have a minimum passing score of 80 out of a possible 100 points in firearms handling, shooting competence, and firearms safety evaluation.

shotgunThe NRA states that "Only those candidates who achieve satisfactory scores in the pre-course qualification, and who meet other specified requirements for NRA instructors, are eligible for certification."
All NRA instructor training is a two-part course consisting of two classes. The NRA Basic Instructor Training class is the first part of that course and is Lessons I-V. The discipline-specific class is the second part of that course and always begins with Lesson VI.
Class Description
This NRA Shotgun Instructor Training class proceeds through eight lessons that teach you how to conduct the NRA Basic Shotgun Shooting course step by step using the NRA Basic Shotgun Shooting Course Outline and Lesson Plans, and how to teach shotgun shooting on a basic level. NRA Shotgun Instructor Training concludes with the Shotgunl Instructor Examination and other preliminaries to certification by the NRA.
Here are the eight lessons in an NRA Shotgun Instructor Training class:

NRA Home Firearm Safety Course

Non-shooting course and teaches students the basic knowledge, skills, and to explain the attitude necessary for the safe handling and storage of firearms and ammunition in the home.
This is a four-hour course for safe gun handling that is conducted in the classroom only. Students are taught NRA’s three rules for safe gun handling; primary causes of firearms accidents; firearm parts; how to unload certain action types; ammunition components; cleaning; care; safe storage of firearms in the home; and the benefits of becoming an active participant in the shooting sports. Students will receive the NRA Home Firearm Safety handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Basic Firearm Training Program brochure, course completion certificate.
